I am a relative novice with Windows Task Manager showed three different tasks running as Teams. Perhaps this was a major update but it lasted all day. I have no use for Teams and would like to uninstall it but the directions proved do not work for me. You may not have the appropriate permission. So of course Teams reinstalls and the problem starts over again.
I am the only user and a far as I can tell I am the administrator. What gives? Its infuriating that software I don't want and never asked for ends up on my computer and I have to waste all this time trying to remove it.

I can uninstall Teams but every time I try to uninstall Teams Machine-Wide Installer I am told "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.

Hi Sylvilagus. I just sacrificed my Teams install to test the Powershell script for you and it worked. So right click Start button to open Admin Powershell, copy and paste the script from the above tutorial into the box and if necessary press the Enter button - mine started on its own and confirmed exactly what it was doing.

Thanks for responding. I ran the script and it removed teams but not the machine wide installer. Im still not able to access that myself either. I tried reboot in safe mode but bitlocker asked for my recovery key and that stumped me. So check for that key now to continue with the steps I gave in Safe Mode. If not then it's more important than ever that you have your files backed up externally because if WIndows fails you will have no other options but to wipe the drive and reinstall since Bitlocker will lock you out without a key.
Your files should always be backed up because a hard drive can die at any time without notice. In addition I'd have an on-site hard copy backup. You can manually drag or copy them to another hard drive, USB external or flash drive.
Besides your files you should save a System Image back up to use in place of reinstall in 20 minutes. You can even use the Macrium program to mount and extract files from this image so it can serve as both image and file backup too.

If a user uninstalls Teams from their user profile, the MSI installer will track that the user has uninstalled the Teams app and no longer install Teams for that user profile.

After a user signs in to Teams for the first time, Teams starts automatically the next time the user logs in. To learn more, see Use Group Policy to prevent Teams from starting automatically after installation. If you've already deployed Teams and want to set this policy to disable Teams autostart, first set the Group Policy setting to the value you want, and then run the Teams autostart reset script on a per-user basis. Teams won't start until the user manually starts Teams.
After the user manually starts Teams, Teams automatically starts whenever the user logs in. All users can then uninstall Teams if they have admin credentials on the computer. If you run the MSI manually, be sure to run it with elevated permissions. Even if you run it as an administrator, without running it with elevated permissions, the installer won't be able to configure the option to disable auto start.
